LET’S TALK NEURODIVERSITY

“Let’s Talk Neurodiversity” is a series of interactive sessions delivered over the past three years at Thameside Primary School in collaboration with Alex Richardson, Ambassador of the National Autistic Society. These sessions are designed to introduce children to the concept of neurodiversity in an engaging, age-appropriate, and inclusive way.
Through open discussions, activities, and real-life examples, pupils are encouraged to understand and celebrate different ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. The sessions create a safe space for curiosity, helping to challenge stereotypes, build empathy, and promote a culture of acceptance within the school community.
By normalising conversations around neurodiversity from an early age, “Let’s Talk Neurodiversity” supports the development of more inclusive mindsets and empowers children to recognise both their own strengths and those of others.
“The Neurodiversity talks at Thameside have been hugely beneficial for pupils of all ages, from year 1 to year 6. Pupils thoroughly enjoy the interactive nature and information shared, and it has provided them with age-appropriate knowledge to understand neurodiversity in themselves and their peers. Older pupils were able to identify traits in themselves and helped them understand their diagnosises, the support available and have the reassurance and encouragement that they can achieve absolutely everything. These talks have created an inclusive community focussing of knowledge and acceptance for all our pupils at Thameside Primary School. “
THE COMMUNITY SAYS

“Andreia has created an incredible, vibrant community. A safe space where I can share my thoughts, fears, feelings in a non-judgemental environment, knowing that all I will see is empathy and understanding. She has used her natural positive affinity for good to help bring others together to collectively process the complexities of being or caring for neurodivergent individuals.“
“The podcast and social presence are wonderful for those who wish to consume in this way, and I have found the coffee mornings to be a breathe of fresh air, lightening my mental load, and giving me comfort and something to enjoy each month. I look forward to catching up with everyone, know that their advice is sage, and come away feeling so happy each and every time.”
“The coffee mornings are beneficial in a number of ways. You are able to share your stories and lived experiences with others who have an understanding of what you are talking about. Having access to advice from me external agencies is a very helpful as you sometimes find out about support and/or services you are not aware of. In general the coffee morning provides a support network across the board.”
